The Committee on Anti-Aging and Alzheimer's
Disease, an affiliated institution of the Chinese Pharmacological Society, was
formally established in 2004 with approval from the Ministry of Civil Affairs
of China. This professional committee evolved from the Chinese Society of
Alzheimer's Disease Scientists founded in 1998, and has developed distinctive
interdisciplinary characteristics by integrating cutting-edge knowledge across
pharmacology, neuroscience, clinical medicine, pharmacy, epidemiology, and
molecular biology.
Under the guidance of the Chinese Pharmacological
Society, the committee has consistently prioritized academic exchange and
scientific exploration, assembling distinguished scholars in both basic and
clinical research domains of anti-aging and Alzheimer's disease (AD) nationwide.
Since 1998, it has successfully convened 19 national academic conferences on
anti-aging and Alzheimer's disease. Through extensive domestic and
international collaborations, the committee has significantly advanced
fundamental research and clinical intervention capabilities in this field.
Concurrently, it emphasizes talent cultivation, research infrastructure
development, and innovative drug discovery, thereby providing scientific
solutions to address challenges posed by population aging.
Leveraging multidisciplinary synergies with
pharmacological foundations, the committee systematically investigates the
complex pathogenesis of aging and dementia, develops precision diagnostic
methodologies, formulates effective clinical intervention strategies, and
explores novel therapeutic approaches integrating Western and Traditional
Chinese Medicine paradigms. Furthermore, the committee actively engages in
science communication initiatives, particularly through annual public education
campaigns coinciding with World Alzheimer's Day on September 21. These
collaborative events with partner organizations, featuring expert lectures and
free medical consultations by clinicians and pharmacists, have evolved into
influential public service programs receiving widespread public recognition.
